Brainpens
Roy Verbakel based his graduation project at Design Academy Eindhoven on several studies in the field of brain science and embodied cognition: Brains not only steer and control the body (as very long was thought), but body and brains interact and influence each other. The pens use the idea that people don’t write long stories with their pens anymore. We draw or play with it.
Flexible (the green pen): The shape of the pen increases the movements you make so you instantly go towards a >mindless< drawing (that you make during a telephone call). It makes you remember better.
Balance (the black pen): Playing with balance in our hands makes us, coming from the theory of embodied cognition, more senseful for feeling more balanced.
Mechanism (the clicking >golden< pen): Everyone knows someone who constantly clicks with his pen. For this person, this is a good way to reduce stress. For the others around it generates more stress. This pen gives the feeling of clicking, but not the sound.
